Design Engineer, Design Systems
Confido is the AI infrastructure powering CPG brands from deduction to production plan. We unify cash application, deductions, disputes, trade promotion management, forecasting, demand planning, and analytics in one integrated platform. The result: measurable time savings, smarter top- and bottom-line decisions, and the speed to scale.
Confido is trusted by 200+ brands managing $20B+ in revenue, including OLIPOP, Simple Mills, Dr. Squatch, Tropicana, and more.
We’ve achieved best-in-class growth and recently raised a $15M Series A led by Footwork Ventures and Y Combinator to accelerate our momentum.
We're building the operating system for CPG brands—covering trade promotion, deductions, demand planning, and supply planning in one platform. As a Design Engineer, you'll build an AI-ready design system from scratch: the tokens, components, styles, and descriptions that give both designers and developers a faster, more reliable foundation to build on.
You'll work directly with product and engineering to close the gap between design intent and shipped experience.
Location: New York, New York (Chelsea) - Relocation Assistance Included
What you'll do
Build Confido's design system from the ground up—tokens, components, styles, and the documentation that makes them usable by designers and developers alike
Implement production-grade React/TS components with pixel-perfect execution and interactions that delight
Design in context: work across real product surfaces to understand how components relate, communicate, and hold up before abstracting them
Bridge design and engineering, translating intent into code and pushing what's possible in both directions
Rapidly prototype new concepts and patterns to validate ideas before full implementation
Socialize the design system across the team so it actually gets used and helps everyone ship faster
What you bring
4+ years of design engineering or frontend experience, ideally on a product or design system team
Equally comfortable in Figma and your code editor—you move fluidly between both
Strong frontend engineering skills: TypeScript, React, CSS, animations, and a component-driven mindset
A strong eye for design, with deep care for layout, motion, affordances, and visual polish
Experience building or meaningfully contributing to a design system: tokens, components, documentation, governance
You've shipped polished products and know what it takes to get from 90% to 100%
You can move fast—prototyping ideas in hours, not days
A systems mindset: you think in primitives and abstractions, not one-off solutions
Excited about AI and how it changes the way designers and developers work
You'll stand out if you
Have shipped a design system (or major version of one) and know what makes them fail
Prototype in code to think, not just to present
Have designed for B2B financial, enterprise, or operational domains before
Use AI tools actively in your workflow, not as a gimmick, but as a multiplier
Treat ambiguity as an invitation
Tools/Tech Stack
We primarily use TypeScript + React with Vite as our build tool. Our current UI layer is built on MUI, leveraging both the sx prop and styled components for styling.
For data and state management, we use TanStack Query and Axios for data fetching, along with a mix of Zustand and React Context for shared UI state. Routing is handled via React Router.
Note: While MUI is our current foundation, we’re actively evolving our design system and are open to exploring alternatives (e.g., Tailwind) as we scale.
